Active Brother Requirements

Whether you are an Active Brother, or a Pledge considering Initiation into our Chapter to the Brotherhood you already share with us, you might want to know about our Active Brother Requirements. These Requirements are to take effect the semester following that of your Pledge Program.

1.  Active Brothers must pay all Annual Active Membership Dues.
As required by the National Fraternity, all Active Members are required to pay Annual Active Membership Dues. If you ever have financial difficulties, please talk to one of the officers; waivers, payment plans, or individual fund raising options are available on an as-needed basis. Don’t ever let dues and fees prevent you from continuing your Membership with Alpha Phi Omega; we are more than willing to accommodate when needed.

2. Insignia is to be worn only while engaging in activities desirable to Alpha Phi Omega.
Image, on and off campus, is a vital concern of all members, new and old. The prominent and proud display of the Alpha Phi Omega insignia instills pride through identity with Alpha Phi Omega, and signifies the Chapter’s presence on campus and in the community. Active Members are proudly able to display the Greek letters of our Fraternity, and shall only do so while engaging in activities desirable to Alpha Phi Omega and the Alpha Zeta Theta Chapter.
.
3. Active Members must attend at least half of all Chapter Meetings unless excused by the Executive Committee.
In addition, Active Members must attend at least half of all fellowship and fund raising events during the course of the semester.

4. At all times, Active Members must strive to exhibit character traits that are desirable to Alpha Phi Omega and that fulfill the requirements for Brothers set out in the Purpose.
The characters and principles Alpha Phi Omega was founded upon are a commitment to live and act by; Active Brothers must exhibit these characteristics as not only a part of the fundamental beliefs of the Organization, but as a part of the fundamental beliefs of each Brother. In the unlikely event that a Brother exhibits undesirable traits, said Brother must attend an Evaluation meeting.

5. Active Members must maintain a Grade Point Average of 2.5 or higher.
Alpha Phi Omega is a collegiate fraternity and has an obligation to both its prospective Members and to its sponsoring college or University to insure that the academic experience is both fulfilling and successful, supporting our heritage of educational freedom. Brothers that have a GPA above a 2.0 will undergo an Academic Touchstone Period until the end of the semester, and must meet with the President at his discretion to discuss and promote the academic success of the individual. Brothers are always available to help and support any and all academic interests.

The Chapter is the life force of Alpha Phi Omega at our University, and Active Members should always strive to better the Chapter and the Fraternity, allowing us to grow and expand.

9. Active Members must plan and host at least one Fellowship activity during the semester.
Brotherhood is one of the most important and cherished concepts of Alpha Zeta Theta Chapter. Fellowship activities allow us to enjoy the company of one another for the benefit of having a network of close friends with a shared purpose.

To allow for an always changing group of individuals who bring different approaches and ideas to the table while planning Service projects, Fellowship activities, and Fundraisers, each Active Member must be on at least one committee during the semester that specializes in planning specific events and activities.
